John Albertini, Board Member

John Albertini grew up in eastern Massachusetts and now considers Rochester home. A language teacher and linguist, he taught at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology for 38 years. There he met Wayne Garrison, one of the co-founders of Dimitri House, and he started volunteering in the emergency overnight shelter in the early 1990s. The gratitude of the guests and the dedication of the staff and volunteers kept him coming back. John joined the Board in 2014 and now focuses on grant writing for current and future programs. He also interprets at Emmanuel Church of the Deaf, dreams of establishing a new urban community in the city of Rochester, and has almost perfected his serve.
